CliftonStrengths
CliftonStrengths Assessment | StrengthsFinder 2.0 Assessment

Why This Session

Extensive research by Gallup and others shows that people who know and use their strengths are:

  • more engaged at work
  • more productive in their roles
  • happier and healthier

Working with strengths rather than weaknesses is a positive, affirming way for a team to get to know each other better while enjoying the process. Talking about our strengths with others on the team feels good and much less risky than revealing our shortcomings, so this is a way to begin the “learning together” process in a safe and fun way. Looking at the “team grid” of strengths also provides good information on who might be most inclined to bring something specific to a project–such as analyzing the data–and who might be best at preparing the presentation of the data or ensuring that deadlines are met.

CliftonStrengths assessment is online with questions to identify your natural talents and strengths. The assessment measures 34 skill themes: communication, strategic thinking, empathy, and adaptability. By understanding your top strengths, you can better understand how you naturally approach and excel in different areas of your life.

This assessment is based on extensive research by Gallup and identifies an individual’s top five strengths out of 34. Individuals can improve their performance, productivity, and overall well-being by understanding and leveraging these strengths. The CliftonStrengths assessment benefits individuals seeking personal growth and development and organizations looking to build high-performing teams and maximize employee potential.

Expected Outcomes

Teams can expect to learn about themselves individually and about the whole team, in an interactive, mutually supportive environment. For retreats or offsites in which there are multiple objectives, this session provides an experience that energizes the people and leads to a shared language about talents and strengths on the team. For the team leader or anyone in a management position in the organization, it provides a snapshot of the balance the team possesses in four areas:

  • Executing
  • Influencing
  • Relationship Building
  • Strategic Thinking

Since the most effective teams have a good balance across the four areas, this is also an opportunity for a team leader to think about addressing gaps in the team through recruitment and hiring.
